Two Washington State Library Postcards

I've just added two unusual Washington state library postcards to my collection. The first shows six branch libraries of the Seattle Public Library, and the second shows the architectural drawings for the South Bend Public Library. Public library branch libraries are rarely seen on postcards so a postcard showing six branch libraries is extremely unusual. Four of the branch libraries (Green Lake, West Seattle, Ballard, & University) received grants from Andrew Carnegie. I've written previously about the Seattle-Carnegie connection. In all, Carnegie helped fund seven library buildings for the Seattle Public Library with grants totaling $430,000. The South Bend library building on the second postcard also received a Carnegie grant in 1908. The South Bend library is now part of the Timberland Regional Library. The South Bend building is still being used as a library and is on the National Register of Historical Places.
